Pontypool and New Inn / Pont-y-pŵl a Tafarn Newydd
Wednesday was the third day on the trot that the 6M86 to Dee Marsh had been cancelled, but it was the first day that an overnight 6M76 and associated 6V75 empties had run. 66524 had 25 assorted empty steel carriers in tow as it passed the very soggy, windswept island platform of Pontypool & New Inn.
50+ years ago Pontypool Road, as it was then, was a major junction with the line through Crumlin and Nelson which gave the GWR access to Merthyr, Aberdare and the Vale of Neath.
