April 2005 - Alexandra Palace
Open Access Operator Hull Trains was the brainchild of two ex-BR executives who teamed up with GB Railways. Originally using Anglia Railways 170s (GB Rail was the Anglia franchisee) they acquired four three car 170s, built speculatively by Bombardier on behalf of Porterbrook, and used them in pairs on their most popular services, mixing it with 125 mph GNER services on the ECML!
I liked Hull Trains 170s in pairs, as here at Alexandra Palace on the first up service on a Sunday morning. They didn't last long, being replaced by the Pioneer Voyager clones, after which they were reallocated to Scotrail but it was fun whilst it lasted.
