Table 136 - Overnight to SW England
There were two sleeping car trains to SW England from Paddington, the 23:45 and the 00:55 both terminating at Penzance. The latter was for sleeping car passengers only, whilst the former dropped its sleepers at Exeter. In addition there is the 19:30 (Summer Only) which takes over nine and a half hours to get to Penzance!, admittedly it sits in Plymouth for almost three hours. It's followed along the mainline through Cornwall by the 19:20 from York which arrives in Penzance in 05:55.
Newquay is the destination of three overnight trains, all running until 27th September, from Manchester (dep 21:37), from Nottingham (dep 21:35) and Newcastle (dep 21:00), the latter taking 18 minutes off 12 hours for the end to end journey. There were no sleeping cars, coaches only.
