After the wettest summer since 1912 it was a pleasure when September began on a dry note and I enjoyed a curate's egg of an afternoon at Old Linslade. Sunday saw me at West Drayton to catch the Colnbrook to Lindsey empty oil tanks and Monday morning on my way to London Bridge I stopped off at Upper Holloway for the welcome return of 7L22.
On September 6th the VSOE paid a visit to the South Coast, running ecs through Three Bridges morning and late afternoon and on Saturday I was out and about in the fenland once more.
September 15th marked the first of nine weekends which will see the GEML closed between Shenfield and Witham as the OHLE is upgraded. Consequently the fens saw an upsurge in container traffic to and from Felixstowe as well as engineering trains too and from Whitemoor. I caught a train to Ely, rode round to Soham, back to Ely to catch a train to March and then biked it to Whittlesey and Peterborough, catching an East Coast train back to King's Cross.
September 26th was a sad day, the final day of London Underground's A stock in routine service prior to the farewell railtour on September 29th. Friday 28th saw 87002 en route to York with a special.
After returning from Chile on October 7th I didn't actually get my camera out until Saturday 20th, mainly on account of the terrible weather. Saturday 27th was forecast for much of the previous week to be cold but sunny, cold it certainly was but after initial brightness by late morning the sun had all but gone, at east around London. Overall October 2012 was quite a contrast to October 2011.
The first four days of November in East Anglia yielded a single morning's worth of pictures around Ely and the Ouse Washes on Friday 2nd.
Remembrance Sunday found me in Kent.
